Its been clear for months that Rebel Wilson<\/a> was going to formally hit back against the litigating producers of her film The Deb<\/a> <\/em>with a lawsuit of her own, and now she has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just more than a week after the musical drama had its world premiere on the closing night of the Toronto<\/a> Film Festival, Deb <\/em>director Wilson and her lawyer Bryan Freedman<\/a> assert in a September 26-filed counter-complaint that the Pitch Perfect <\/em>star is \u201cdetermined to fight not only for herself but also for The Deb<\/em> and for all those who have silently suffered\u201d from producer Amanda Ghost\u2019s \u201creprehensible actions over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt its core are three co-producers \u2014 Ghost, Cameron, and Holden \u2014 who operated under the delusion that they could act at the expense of others with complete impunity,\u201d says Wilson\u2019s nine-claim breach of contract suit against Ghost and fellow\u00a0Deb\u00a0<\/em>producers Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTheir involvement in the Film was marked by a troubling pattern of egregious and illicit behaviors, including theft, bullying, and sexual misconduct,\u201d the 35-page filing in Los Angeles Superior Court states of the trio called\u00a0\u201cabsolute f*ckwits\u201d<\/a>\u00a0by Wilson in late July. \u201cWhen these despicable actions were reported by Rebel Wilson \u2014 the film\u2019s director, writer, and star actress \u2014 the trio resorted to the \u2018Amanda Ghost strategy\u2019 of intimidation and bullying to silence her and evade accountability. This strategy embodies a relentless cycle of manipulation and coercion that Wilson has endured since October 2023, showing no signs of abating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as accusing the producers of getting their hands on \u201cAU $900,000 from the film\u2019s budget to be split between them,\u201d Wilson\u2019s counter-complaint follows up with specifics on the alleged treatment of MacInnes. The counter-complaint says that Ghost \u201cforced MacInnes to live in her Bondi Beach penthouse apartment with her,\u201d and the producer \u201ctook a shower and a bath with MacInnes.\u201d The filing adds that \u201cGhost was overheard making overtly sexual remarks to MacInnes on set.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This war of words and writs started back in the summer, when Wilson took to social media to chastise the producers for nixing The Deb<\/em>\u2018s TIFF premiere<\/a>, playing fast and loose with the film\u2019s funds, and \u201cinappropriate behavior towards the film\u2019s lead actress\u201d Charlotte MacInnes. The trio first responded to Wilson\u2019s claims by terming them \u201cfalse, defamatory, and disappointing.\u201d They quickly followed that up on July 12 with a defamation lawsuit<\/a>. On July 16, The Deb <\/em>was officially on as the TIFF closing-night film, and on July 18, Wilson hired the pugilistic Freedman to go into legal battle for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which bring us to this counter-complaint, and the unspecified damages it seeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmanda Ghost, Cameron Gregor, and Vince Holden attempted to manipulate the narrative by recklessly filing an outlandish lawsuit,\u201d Freedman said in a statement outside of the filing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attorney went on to say: \u201cTheir real problem? Only a fraction of their outrageous conduct has been revealed thus far. In their desperation to shift the story, they neglected to consider that this strategy would only lead to RW\u2019s filing of a cross-complaint which exhibits a plethora of their shocking misconduct which there are many witnesses to. Many brave people have come forward who have had similar dealings with Amanda Ghost. While unfortunate, this was not a surprise. Stay tuned, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There is much more to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
