In May 2019, he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubefilter.com\/2019\/05\/20\/tfue-faze-clan-youtube-twitch-earnings-lawsuit\/\">filed a lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0claiming the terms of his contract\u2013namely that he wasn\u2019t allowed to make his own brand deals, and could only accept sponsorships arranged by FaZe Clan\u2013were \u201cgrossly oppressive\u201d and hindering his career. He also alleged FaZe Clan was not handing over his 20% share of payment for the brand deals it did arrange, and criticized the org\u2019s boilerplate contract as unfair to creators. (Original FaZe Clan member<strong>\u00a0Ricky Banks<\/strong> later admitted the terms of Tenney\u2019s contract were \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubefilter.com\/2019\/08\/02\/faze-clan-countersues-tfue\/\">horrible<\/a>\u201d for him.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FaZe Clan countersued&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubefilter.com\/2019\/08\/02\/faze-clan-countersues-tfue\/\">last August<\/a>, accusing Tenney of having \u201csecreted away\u201d earnings without giving the organization its due cut, stealing confidential information, and interfering in contracts and business relationships. It also claimed Tenney had been \u201cadvocating for others to leave and compete against FaZe Clan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Faze and Turner Tenney are pleased to announce they have resolved their disputes and settled their litigations. The parties wish one another the best of luck in future endeavors,.&#8221;<\/p><cite><strong>Bryan Freedman of Freedman + Taitelman, LLP<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Another central aspect of both suits was the&nbsp;<strong>Talent Agency Act<\/strong>, a California law that mandates talent agencies must be licensed. Tenney\u2019s suit, filed in the&nbsp;<strong>L.A. County Superior Court<\/strong>, argued that by performing services like arranging sponsorships and appearances on his behalf and taking a cut of earnings, FaZe Clan was acting as an unlicensed agency. FaZe Clan\u2019s countersuit asked judges to dismiss Tenney\u2019s claims because his contract stipulates that any litigation against FaZe Clan can only be filed in New York, though the organization is based in Los Angeles and Tenney is based in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freedman, Tenney\u2019s lawyer,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubefilter.com\/2019\/08\/02\/faze-clan-countersues-tfue\/\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in August that FaZe Clan was \u201cafraid\u201d to battle Tenney in California courts because it knew it would lose on Talent Agency Act grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A California judge dismissed most of Tenney\u2019s original lawsuit last month,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/thr-esq\/tfues-california-suit-faze-clan-dismissed-as-new-york-trial-approaches-1302685\">reportedly<\/a>&nbsp;with a decision that he should have brought charges in New York. The judgment did, however, leave open Tenney\u2019s Talent Agencies Act complaint, which was filed with the&nbsp;<strong>California Labor Commissioner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it appears that complaint, and the rest of both parties\u2019 allegations, have been put to rest.
