But a friend of Harrison\u2019s told us on Friday of the move: \u201cChris has had a spotless record for 20 years \u2026 He has always been the good company man, but, after the way he\u2019s been treated by producers and executives over the past couple of weeks, he\u2019s run out of cheeks to turn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pal added, \u201cNow he\u2019s ready to tell the truth about how things really work over there \u2014 and he has plenty of evidence to back him up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freedman repped Union in her dispute with \u201cAGT\u201d last year after she&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/08\/24\/gabrielle-union-calls-americas-got-talent-drama-heartbreaking\/\">complained of racism and a \u201ctoxic environment\u201d on the talent show<\/a>&nbsp;and had been let go as a judge. The case was settled in September. Freedman in June had filed a complaint with California\u2019s Department of Fair Employment and Housing on Union\u2019s behalf, after NBC had wrapped its own investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harrison, 49, would certainly know where the \u201cBachelor\u201d franchise bodies are buried. He hosted all 25 seasons of \u201cThe&nbsp;Bachelor,\u201d as well as all 16 seasons of \u201cThe&nbsp;Bachelorette,\u201d before&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/02\/16\/rachel-lindsay-on-chris-harrison-stepping-aside-from-the-bachelor\/\">taking a leave from the show<\/a>&nbsp;amid controversy last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stepped away after an uproar when he&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/02\/11\/bachelor-host-chris-harrison-apologizes-for-perpetuating-racism\/\">defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell<\/a>&nbsp;in an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9hmY1gSAuRk&amp;ab_channel=extratv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ill-fated interview with Rachel Lindsay<\/a>, who\u2019d been the franchise\u2019s first black Bachelorette.&nbsp;Pictures had surfaced of Kirkconnell, 24, attending a plantation-themed party in 2018 as a student, and she was also accused of having \u201cliked\u201d racially insensitive social media posts online. Harrison said fans should offer Kirkconnell \u201ca little grace, a little understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He later apologized, and said of the interview: \u201cBy excusing historical racism, I defended it. I invoked the term \u2018woke police,\u2019 which is unacceptable. I am ashamed over how uninformed I was. I was wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also said in a statement, \u201cI have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the \u2018After the Final Rose\u2019 special.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He did not specify how long his exit would be, but \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d announced last week that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/03\/12\/tayshia-adams-kaitlyn-bristowe-replace-chris-harrison-on-the-bachelorette\/\">Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams&nbsp;<\/a>will co-host&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/03\/15\/katie-thurston-and-michelle-young-both-named-bachelorettes\/\">the show\u2019s next season<\/a>. \u201cThe Bachelor\u201d wrapped its latest season this week,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/live-feed\/tv-ratings-monday-march-15-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hitting a ratings high<\/a>, but reportedly fell short of last season\u2019s finale numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Harrison\u2019s comments to Lindsay about Kirkconnell, the female contestants of \u201cThe Bachelor\u201d Season 25&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/02\/12\/bachelor-stars-denounce-chris-harrisons-defense-of-racism\/\">released a statement<\/a>&nbsp;saying, \u201cWe are deeply disappointed and want to make it clear that we denounce any defense of racism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this week, Matt James, the first black Bachelor, expressed hope Harrison&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/03\/04\/chris-harrison-apologizes-to-rachel-lindsay-on-gma\/\">could eventually return<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think that anybody should be trying to cancel him,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2021\/03\/matt-james-believes-chris-harrison-should-keep-bachelor-job.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James reportedly told Bill Simmons.<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cWe should be calling him in to do that work that he outlined and wants to do. He\u2019s taking a step back and committed to doing that.
