According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/allaboutthetea.com\/2021\/01\/06\/exclusive-mariah-huq-suing-bravo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">All About Tea<\/a>, Huq has filed a lawsuit against Bravo alleging that they not only discriminated against her but also stole her ideas and didn\u2019t pay her royalties. Huq not only stars on the show but is credited as the creator and an executive producer of the reality series on Bravo\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis lawsuit was filed today as a result of the defendants stealing Mariah Huq\u2019s creation&nbsp;<em>Married to Medicine<\/em>&nbsp;and not paying her royalties, giving her proper credit for spinoffs etc. and treating her with discriminatory practices,\u201d All About Tea\u2019s Monica said in a video about the lawsuit, which was filed January 5. \u201cThe complaint is 20 pages long and lays out a significant number of discriminatory practices by NBC\/Bravo\/Fremantle and Purveyors of Pop, against Mariah Huq. An intellectual property and discrimination complaint has been filed by <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/attorneys\/bryan-j-freedman\/\">Mariah Huq and her attorney Bryan Freedman<\/a> against NBC\/Bravo\/Fremantle and Purveyors of Pop.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the lawsuit, Purveyors of Pop, Bravo, NBC and Fremantle \u201cacted illegally and unethically which includes but is not limited to\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>unauthorized exploitation of \u201cMarried To Medicine\u201d &amp; Married To Medicine the Series.<\/li><li>&nbsp;Breach of Contract.<\/li><li>Breach of joint Venture Agreement.<\/li><li>breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.<\/li><li>failure to prevent retaliation and harassment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Huq has been vocal about feeling that she was treated differently than other White Bravo reality stars like Lisa Vanderpump&nbsp;and&nbsp;Whitney Sudler-Smith.&nbsp; In an interview she did in July 2020, Huq, who is Muslim, said producers told her she couldn\u2019t wear a hijab during filming. She also wasn\u2019t offered the opportunity to return to&nbsp;<em>Married to Medicine&nbsp;<\/em>for the show\u2019s eighth season. Huq told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/allaboutthetea.com\/2020\/07\/06\/mariah-huq-exposes-bravo-racism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">All About Tea<\/a>&nbsp;that she feels a network wouldn\u2019t usually shut out the creator and one of the stars of a hit show and feels that her being Black played a role in the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Bravo star&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/madamenoire.com\/1192226\/nene-leakes-bravo\/\">NeNe Leakes<\/a>&nbsp;has also accused Bravo, along with Andy Cohen, of discriminatory practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y\u2019all ready to start this boycott yet?,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/madamenoire.com\/1207488\/nene-leakes-rhoa-2\/\">she tweeted<\/a>&nbsp;regarding rallying against Bravo on December 21, 2020. \u201cWhat has happened behind the scenes is WRONG! While others were being promoted, BLACK WOMEN who created shows, created genres, built franchise and built networks were being DEMOTED\u2026TURN OFF YOUR TV\u2019S.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In another tweet from that same day, she posted a link to a Change.org petition titled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/boycott-bravo-tv-nbc-universal\">\u201cBoycott Bravo TV\/NBC Universal\u201d<\/a>&nbsp; that tries to persuades folks to sign on the grounds that Leakes wasn\u2019t properly compensated or treated well considering what she contributed to the&nbsp;<em>Real Housewives of Atlanta&nbsp;<\/em>during her time on the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Y\u2019all ready to start this boycott yet?
