Bloom subsequently launched a countersuit, claiming that Depp hadn\u2019t paid his bills in full, but a judge later ruled in Depp\u2019s favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday, Bloom Hergott provided&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2019\/film\/news\/pirates-of-the-caribbean-reboot-craig-mazin-ted-elliott-disney-1203383993\/\">Johnny Depp<\/a>&nbsp;an eight-figure payment to settle Mr. Depp\u2019s lawsuit against the firm for fraud, conflict of interest, disgorgement of over $30 million in voidable fees and other malfeasance that they engaged in over nearly two decades,\u201d Waldman said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for how much that settlement was, <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/attorneys\/bryan-j-freedman\/\">Bryan Freedman, who represented Bloom\u2019s firm<\/a>, Bloom Hergott, told\u00a0<em>Variety\u00a0<\/em>the payment was a \u201cfraction\u201d of the $30 million that Depp had originally sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The former law firm of Bloom Hergott, with the help of its insurance carrier, has favourably settled the litigation with Johnny Depp for a fraction of his original demand. While the firm was confident it would prevail at trial, we are nonetheless pleased with this resolution as it expedites the firm\u2019s winding down process and allows it to get off the endless Johnny Depp litigation train.<\/p><cite>Freedman said.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Waldman, however, sees things differently, issuing another statement to declare that, by settling, the firm had \u201cavoided the shame of evidence in a public trial.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the amount, Waldman added: \u201cThey are correct that eight figures is a fraction of nine figures,\u201d Waldman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<em>Variety<\/em>, Bloom and his partner, Alan Hergott, retired in May 2019, with the firm turned over to the remaining partners and renamed Goodman Schenkman &amp; Brecheen.<a href=\"https:\/\/etcanada.com\/photos\/97728\/johnny-depps-best-and-worst\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After two years, Johnny Depp\u2019s legal battle with his former lawyer, Jake Bloom, has finally ended in a settlement.
