The film follows the claims from Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who claim they were sexually abused by Jackson back when they were children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But now, HBO is hoping the court system will have the lawsuit tossed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease take notice that Defendant Home Box Office, Inc. hereby appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from this Court\u2019s order granting Plaintiffs\u2019 Motion to Compel Arbitration (the \u201cOrder\u201d),\u201d Theodore J. Boutrous Jr. and Daniel Petrocelli wrote the court Monday, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2019\/10\/michael-jackson-sex-abuse-leaving-neverland-lawsuit-hbo-appeal-emmy-winner-1202765393\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Deadline<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Jackson\u2019s family immediately slammed the appeal, calling it \u201cbogus\u201d and \u201cdesperate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This bogus appeal is nothing more than HBO\u2019s latest desperate attempt to cover up the truth about its shoddy journalism<\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/attorneys\/bryan-j-freedman\/\">Freedman &amp; Taitelman, LLP\u2019s Bryan Freedman<\/a> said a statement.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>For seven months HBO has tried and failed to avoid a public arbitration. This appeal, which is its latest Hail Mary attempt, is even more pathetic than all of its other attempts to avoid public scrutiny. If HBO truly wanted to avoid a judgment, it should have thought about that before it aided and abetted a one-sided documentary without any journalistic integrity and in which the subjects have a huge motivation to lie \u2013 namely the millions of dollars for which they are suing the Estate.
