{"id":10420,"date":"2011-03-11T17:54:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-12T01:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ftllp.net\/?p=10420"},"modified":"2024-11-04T12:54:43","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T20:54:43","slug":"uta-sues-world-of-wonder-over-tori-dean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/news\/entertainment\/uta-sues-world-of-wonder-over-tori-dean\/","title":{"rendered":"UTA Sues World of Wonder Over &#8216;Tori &#038; Dean&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>United Talent Agency is suing its client, World of Wonder Productions, claiming it was cheated out of profits for the Oxygen television show \u201cTori &amp; Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court Friday, UTA accused World of&nbsp;Wonder of breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duty, among other charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read the full filing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/50569448\/UTA-v-World-of-Wonder\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World of Wonder\u2019s \u201cmisconduct is evidenced by, among other things, its blatant attempt to cover up its accounting practices by refusing to provide UTA with full access to its own books and records,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/attorneys\/bryan-j-freedman\/\">agency\u2019s lawyers, Bryan Freedman<\/a> and Steven Stiglitz, wrote in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the suit, UTA was supposed to receive a portion of the profits of \u201cTori &amp; Dean.\u201d World of Wonder paid UTA some of what it owed, but not all, the lawsuit alleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawyers Bryan Freedman and Steven Stiglitz wrote that UTA determined in 2010 that it was owed money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch this video for more informationYou may like this trending videoAd By SponsorSee More<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December 2010, UTA asked World of Wonder to provide \u201can accounting of revenue received, expenses incurred, and profits earned in connection with the series,\u201d the lawyers wrote. World of Wonder \u201cresponded by offering to provide a limited form of accounting under severe restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UTA claims that World of Wonder \u201chas refused to provide UTA with a reasonable accounting and has maintained that no additional amounts are due to UTA.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They wrote that \u201cfurther efforts at negotiation have proven futile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World of Wonder has produced many television shows, including \u201cRuPaul\u2019s Drag U,\u201d \u201cDesign School,\u201d \u201cDrag Race,\u201d \u201cViva Hollywood!\u201d and \u201cHouse of Clues.\u201dADVERTISING<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company&#8217;s lawyer, Mark Campbell, wrote in an email Saturday that &#8220;we are confident that our client will prevail in defending these unfounded claims.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawyers for UTA did not immediately return telephone calls Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Pamela Chelin contributed to this article.<\/em>Show&nbsp;Comments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United Talent Agency is suing its client, World of Wonder Productions, claiming it was cheated out of profits for the Oxygen television show \u201cTori &amp;
