This type of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www-deadline-com.vimg.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/PMC_vs_THR_Complaint110914175112.pdf\">complaint<\/a>&nbsp;is tricky to prove, let alone win; usually, it comes down to the strength of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www-deadline-com.vimg.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/PMC_vs_THR_Exhibits110914164154.pdf\">supporting exhibits.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On that front, there are seven exhibits in all comparing screen and source code grabs of the front pages of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvline.com\/\">TVLine.com<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/\">HollywoodReporter.com<\/a>. PMC is basically alleging that the latter\u2019s \u201cfeatured stories grid\u201d bears far too many navigation and programming similarities to the patent-pending programming anchoring its TV industry website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the complaint introduction, PMC attorneys write that \u201cTHR was so incompetent and careless in its theft, that it actually copied the original source code&nbsp;<em>labels<\/em>&nbsp;[italics theirs, not ours] exactly as they existed on TVLine.com, and did not even attempt to rename them.\u201d The complaint goes on to allege, amazingly, that these labels contain the incriminating initials \u201cMMC,\u201d an abbreviation of PMC\u2019s former corporate name (Mail.com Media Corporation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, in one of several other supporting complaint sections (\u201cTHR Attempts To Lure Away Key Deadline Employees\u201d), it is alleged that&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/Nikki-Finke-profile.html\">Nikki Finke<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;received an employment offer to become the editor-in-chief of&nbsp;<em>THR<\/em>&nbsp;in January of 2010 from an executive of the equity firm Guggenheim. The offer is said to have consisted of a base annual salary of $450,000, a $1 million Malibu home and a percentage of future cable TV profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a whole lot more here, including an itemized supporting list of Deadline.com items that the attorneys frame as having shown up within minutes or hours at HollywoodReporter.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Update&nbsp;\u2013 09\/14\/11: The&nbsp;<em>Hollywood Reporter<\/em>&nbsp;has&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/thr-esq\/nikki-finke-hollywood-reporter-235637\">posted a response<\/a>&nbsp;to the PMC lawsuit on its website.
