{"id":10044,"date":"2017-05-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T18:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ftllp.net\/?p=10044"},"modified":"2024-11-03T11:09:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-03T19:09:52","slug":"suit-against-vin-diesels-xxx-sequel-from-ex-business-partner-dismissed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/news\/entertainment\/tv_film\/suit-against-vin-diesels-xxx-sequel-from-ex-business-partner-dismissed\/","title":{"rendered":"Suit against Vin Diesel\u2019s \u2018xXx\u2019 sequel from ex-business partner dismissed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A judge Monday dismissed a breach of contract lawsuit that a producer filed against Vin Diesel and a production company, alleging the plaintiff was owed at least $200,000 and a film credit for a sequel to the movie \u201cxXx.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adopting a tentative ruling he issued Friday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Doyle said George Zakk had more than ample opportunity to amend his lawsuit to provide more details in support of his claims against Diesel and Revolution Studios, the producers of \u201cxXx.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlong about the fourth time out we need to be done,\u201d Doyle said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attorneys for the defendants maintained the lawsuit was filed too late. <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.creativespikedigital.com\/lftc\/attorneys\/bryan-j-freedman\/\">Lawyer Bryan Freedman<\/a>, on behalf of Diesel, said Doyle\u2019s ruling was correct and called the latest version of Zakk\u2019s suit a \u201csham pleading.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Zakk\u2019s attorney, A. Raymond Hamrick, said the case is not over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m confident the ruling will be overturned on appeal,\u201d Hamrick said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was the third time Doyle had given Zakk\u2019s lawyers a chance to amend their complaint, having previously done so last August and again in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the suit filed in May 2016, Zakk and Diesel started a business relationship in 1995 in which the plaintiff helped the \u201cThe Fast and the Furious\u201d co-star pursue his acting and producing career. In 2001, they formed a production company called One Race Films, the suit stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zakk received a production fee for each film in which he assisted Diesel, including \u201cxXx\u201d in 2002, according to his court papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two ended their business relationship in 2007, but Zakk claimed he was still entitled to fees and credits from future films that the plaintiff helped develop on behalf of Diesel while running One Race Films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zakk has not been compensated or received a film credit for the \u201cxXx\u201d sequel, \u201cxXx: The Return of Xander Cage,\u201d which he is entitled to by virtue of his work on the original film, the suit stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cxXx\u201d sequel was released in January and starred the 49-year-old Diesel \u2014 best known for his role in the \u201cFast and Furious\u201d franchise \u2014 and Samuel L.
